The Best Estes Park Camping Spot

Happy 1st of the Month!! Can you believe it's already August?? We are wrapping up an amazing weekend of camping outside Rocky Mountain National Park. Continue reading to see our adventure!

Level of Difficulty: Moderate

Rating: 4.5 Stars on All Trails

Elevation: 9000 Ft

Area: Roosevelt National Forrest

Off-Road Area: Parachute Hill / Johnny Park OHV Trail

This GORGEOUS campsite was located just a few miles outside of Estes, Park Colorado & Rocky Mountain National Park. They are FREE and OPEN to the public, so long as someone hasn't already snagged a space, so be sure to get there early!!

Directions: From I-25 South, Take Exit 255 West onto Highway 34 towards Loveland and Big Thompson Canyon. Drive for 30 miles, then take a slight left onto US 63 (Mall Road) all the way to Estes Park, Colorado. In 1 mile, turn Right onto US 36 (N St. Vrain Ave). In 0.7 miles, take a left onto US 7 (S St. Vrain Ave). In 1 mile, take a sharp left onto US 82 (Cabin Creek Road) and drive for 11 miles.

If driving an off-road vehicle, there is a specific road for ATV or Off-Road Vehicles ONLY. It will take you to this gorgeous hiking/camping area just 5-miles from the Parachute Hill Campsites.

The Site was lovely! Heavily treed and gorgeous views of Rocky Mountain National Park. Be sure to check the USDA Gov Site for fire ban information. Don't get scared off by the private drive signs, as they are intended for people to know that there are cabins in the area that appear to be mostly vacation in winter months.

We feel so fortunate to have discovered this beautiful location, and with a couple months left of warm weather in the year, we hope you get the chance to as well!!
